While we are as happy as all Namibians to return to work on Tuesday we have a dark cloud hanging over our industry.
Our job is to bring people together and as much as we would love to see Namibia healthy and operating, we are bleeding for our industry. We have a lot of friends and partners that are also hugely affected with these regulations.
Large gatherings are prohibited in an attempt to curb the spread of this virus. In short: Parties are over for the events industry.
People are nervous because it is the time of the month where you have to pay your bills, and if you have not generated any income from 14 March, like us, that will be close to impossible. This is happening in an already fragile Namibian economy, and is it not true, that we have just survived the toughest drought that this beautiful country has seen in 90 years?! Small and Medium Businesses are struggeling to keep their doors open and taxpayers are not receiving any relief from government.
It remains to be seen what happens in the next few months. It sure is interesting times we live in. We will be their to service and support essential services with temporary infrastructure and planning.
Nothing that we are reading, watching or listening to, are good news. So it's time to buckle up. We are in for a tough ride.
We are open from Tuesday 5 May 2020.
